A quick way to add lights to your dollhouse!

Use a short string of white Christmas lights to light up a homemade dollhouse... just drill holes through the back of the dollhouse, insert the lights, and plug in!  Not only do children love it, but even if you have no children, it's a cheery and unique way to light up an area in your home.

  3. Thank you for sending that link... it looks like a very fun way to make and add your own movable lights/lamps to your doll house! We were just at Radio Shack and they have drawers full of those kinds of little things (LED lights etc.).

  4. Great idea! How did you secure the lights in the back of the dollhouse? Photo of the back?

  5. Here are two other of our blog entries that show pictures of the back...

Before the dollhouse is decorated, we mark where we want the lights and then use a really long drill bit to drill out the holes (from the front side - then if the wood splinters from the drill it splinters on the back side). Then we simply poke the lights through the back... We decided we like them snug fitting rather than loose, but that is just our opinion. You can experiment on an extra piece of wood to see which you prefer.

  7. Just finished adding the lights. They look great! I used LED Christmas lights so they won't heat up as much and will last longer. Thanks for the help.
